Yucatan Paper

This is Yucatan's version of Amate paper. The sheets are made by shaping sansevieria and cattail fibers on a flat surface and then placing them in the sun to dry. Made by Mark Callaghan, the sheets have one rough side created by a fork-like instrument that spreads the pulp while the other side is very smooth. Each sheet is formed on a stone or glass surface. This paper can be used for painting, printmaking, drawing and even ink-jet printing on both sides.
